Apps in Use

Monkey Word School Adventure is an outstanding word app for students ready to use letter and sounds to read! I highly recommend this app as do ALL my students. Read my blog post about it {here.} My class loves it because it is SO on their level and FUN. I love it because it allows my students to practice reading not just letters.

Eggy Alphabet is a steal for the price. Your class will LOVE it because of the game options and activities. There are just so many to choose from.

The teachers because the students have to form the letters correctly, they have sections dedicated to uppercase and lowercase letters, and this is easy to use!

You can read my blog post about it {here.}

They also make Eggy 100 and Eggy 250 which is the BEST sight word practice I have found for little learners, but has too much set up issues and doesn't have the student assignment aspects that this game does.

An awesome, amazing, fantastic handwriting app your students and you WILL LOVE is called LetterSchool!

You can read my blog post about it {here.} My kids LOVE this app and enjoy playing with it.

My kids love this app because it has lots of sounds and visuals to appeal to them so they don't always "think" they are working.

I love this app because it makes my kids practice handwriting from the TOP and is highly encouraging!

I have downloaded another app called First Camera. Since it is summer, my kids have not played it yet... but I am ready with a few ideas for them when I get to meet them.
See my blog post here with ideas and more info on this new app.
(I am super excited about it!)

Rocket Math App
This is a new app to our classroom. I introduced it by accident to my kids. See, I downloaded it and didn't have a chance to play it when my boys discovered it. I had not figured it out yet... but they have and they LOVE it. You have to do math problems to build your rocket, then you get to fly it. At least I think... again, they have it figured out, but I can't! (AKA my rocket doesn't fly!)

I love that some of the questions are addition and subtraction, but also harder questions like odd or even.

If you have boys... they will love this app!

Timmy's Kindergarten Adventure

This is a GREAT app for a Kindergarten classroom! My kids LOVE it, I LOVE it, and I love the company who creates this game. I gave them some feedback on making the game more classroom friendly... and they did! This is sure to hold your students' interest for a while AND they have a preschool version as well! AWESOME!
My kids come back for more and more!

Spelling with Cimo Sight Words and Sounding Out
This is a good game for FREE, well my class has only used the "lite" or free versions so far and are very happy. There is some great "View Reports" screens that can aid teachers or parents in what words to work on.
It is fun and entertaining for a good 10 minutes. (Only 2 out of 17 students ask to more onto another game while playing this.)

This find was suppose to be for my little one at home, but it is a hit for her and my class. It is easy skill wise, but well done.It is highly engaging! It covers:
  • COLORS.
  • MATCHING
  • COUNTING
  • LETTERS
  • PUZZLE
  • SPOT THE DIFFERENCE

This is the math version of Monkey Preschool Lunchbox and is equally fun! Highly engaging and worth the money! This covers and reviews TONS of skills

  • ADD IT UP and TAKE IT AWAY
  • PATTERNS
  • SHAPES
  • SEQUENCES
  • LESS/MORE
  • BIGGER/SMALLER
  • CONNECT THE DOTS
  • WRITE IT UP!
  • BUBBLE POP

  • This app is GREAT because you can preassign 4 students names and pictures to each unit for them to play AND it keeps data for you. You can customise what skills you want each kid to cover and see how they are doing along the way. It has fun stick scenes and stickers to add for correct answers. My class enjoys this, but will not play it for more than 20 minutes, which is GREAT for small groups. I love this because it is simple, easy, and gives great data. They also have a Preschool version and 1st grade version. It is not as engaging as other games, but I have found that is a good thing for some over stimulated students. GREAT to start the school year off with because it is easy to play.

A few tips I have learned when using a few i"somethings" in a classroom...
    1. Assign each student a pad/pod for assigned games, like games with their names preset in them.(See my post here on how I do this.)
    2. You can already assign their names by keeping a quick guide handy and save time and independence later. I allow my students to play any pad/pod for random games so they get variety.
    3. Use headphones verse ear buds!!
    4. Some devices can be projected (wireless!) using something called AppleTV. Check out my blog post on it here. I will be getting this toy soon so I will let you know how it goes. I demoed it and LOVED it!

And here is the link to grab your free numbers to number your devices. This is a simple, easy, and effective way to manage your devices! I did almost all the work and I provided instructions on how to do this.
