Quick and Easy Birthday Idea

I got this photo from {here}

Here a a quick and easy idea to help celebrate birthdays in your classroom.
I have a purchased #6 candle in my filing cabinet for Birthdays. Since students (almost always) turn 6 in Kinder, I use this candle about 15 times a year. I have used the same candle for YEARS and it was worth every cent. If you are not allowed to actually "light" the candle, it is still FUN to use!
(I clean it and store it in a baggie between uses.)

The bonus is how parents are always impressed that I have a candle for their special child's birthday celebrations.
Are you allowed to celebrate birthdays at your school?

  1. Mary, to make it special and add learning to our birthday "celebrations", we do a Montessori style Celebration of Life. We ask the children to bring in a picture or momento for each year of their life. We gather in a circle with the sun hanging in the middle. The birthday child carries an inflatable globe around the circle once for each year of their life and share their memories. We sing," The Earth goes round the sun, the Earth goes round the sun, the Earth goes round the sun tra-la, and then --------- is "one".
