Gingerbread

Today at school, we read and listened to this FUN new book....
Here we are listening, turning pages, and following along with the story.

We worked in small groups to create a gingerbread man puzzle.
And we made our own Gingerbread Men!
When we went to get them out of the oven... the escaped and we searched for them all over the school. They were waiting for us back in our classroom.

We also used these two books today....

So I made this pack of sorting cards for both these books.

I planned to make this a longer, more detailed unit... but my "free time" at school just doesn't permit it, so instead I am giving it away!
When do you use the gingerbread themed books? Christmas or Back to School?

  2. Thank you! I also do gingerbread in late November and I'm looking forward to using this cute freebie. I also had never heard of the Gingerbread Man Loose in the School book. I'll definitely be looking for that one!

  3. I love to read gingerbread books for back to school time. We go on a hunt around the school on the first day looking for cookies. We just finished making our own gingerbread book, so this will be perfect during center time! Thanks!

  5. I am in LOVE!! What great ideas... thank you so much for sharing this! We don't have access to a kitchen but I can think of a few fun ideas for how we could "make" cookies and go on a hunt for them. Thank you again for sharing.

  6. Thank you for the freebie! I do the Gingerbread Man right when we return from Christmas Break. We have the cookie run and hide and we spend the week looking for him (ala Kindergarten Works' great package).
