I have a student in my room who is really struggling to learn sight words... ANY sight words. It was January and she knew none. I mean, how is that even possible? I knew she knew some, but I couldn't get her to show me. Frustrating for sure. And I mean frustrating for HER!
This has never happened to me as a teacher! I asked around to get help.
This has never happened to me as a teacher! I asked around to get help.
Someone told me about these Snap Words.
We worked with this student a few times a week with the new cards. We showed her the front, read the sentence on the back, showed her the motion that goes with it, and so on. What happened?
She now knows around 50 words using the front pictures! She knows around 20 using the back, without the pictures. AND she is not as frustrated reading in general. Most importantly, she begs us to go over her cards with her every single day.
Needless to say, I am in love with these cards. Just when I thought life couldn't get any better... Snap Words came out with their first app for iPads and iPhone! She can now go over these words on her own!!! The app using the same pictures, motion, and sentence as the flash cards. It has a learning setting, games setting, and assessment section. (By games, I mean 6 different games to practice the sight words!)
Here is some pictures of Level 3!
I am planning on purchasing ALL the cards I can and using them with my whole class next school year. I am also planning on getting the classroom version of this app for next school year as well.
They have SO many great items.
So... Why am I telling you all this? Am I trying to sell you a product? NO!
I want to GIVE you this app. Yes, GIVE you this app, a usual $9.99 app.
(This giveaway has ended. So Sorry!)

Thanks for sharing! Can you email me thing link for this? The link above isn't working. I have a student whose mom is deaf and a single mom, the student is very inconsistent in the words she knows and doesn't know.I would love to see if this would help her out!If you have any other great ideas to help her I would love to hear them. It is hard to know what she is getting at home for help since we don't know how much mom understands because of the language barrier.
