Learning about plants in your classroom soon? These are some of the fun seed activities my class did this week. I love to do food... it makes the lessons more meaningful and my students remember that activity for a LONG time.

What ideas do you have for making seeds fun at school or home?

I love your sunflowers with real seeds! We do similar big flowers (I will have to add the seeds in this year) but I have students label each plant part. I use yarn for the roots. We also do the 'garden in a glove' activity where students plant a different seed in each finger of a plastic food service glove. We also eat each part of a plant...carrots for roots, lettuce for leaves, etc...I will be posting more ideas this week and next as we get into our planting unit! Stop by to check them out.

Love the idea of using seed packets for practicing alphabetical order. I used different seeds in a sorting activity. Also, I took pictures of different seeds and labeled them. Then, children would match the real seed to the photo. Renee
