This week in Kindergarten, we had a ton of center fun!
This week we are working on
-subtraction
-th blend
-Plants
In Math we practices subtraction. This week we started from the number 10 and are NOT using counters.
For handwriting, we practiced writing all out letters, working hard on staying on the road (between the lines.)
Reading- sorting words that begin or end with a certain sound. There were 4 letter options.
Phonics- words that begin or end with the th blend sorting.
Science- Our potato roots grew AWESOME while we were gone for spring break. We went from 1 good root to 5! We are still documenting the changes. They are loving this. I made a quick word wall using an actual picture of our potato.
We are also beginning discussing plants, so they did a "What a plant needs/does need sort."
I made the centers shorter this week because our plant unit takes a longer chunk of time in the afternoon, so we have less time to do centers.
Do these posts help you with center ideas?

Looks great!

Yes! Very helpful. I like the potato root idea and having a laminated visual at the center for students to use with their observations. I find getting students to wire meaningful scientific observations HARD so this would really help guide them and scaffold. Love the hippo teeth one too. Looks cute. I am so used to having parents run my centers that I am really trying to brainstorm more ways that my students can be successful at centers on their own. Thank you for sharing.
